Jabulani is a Zulu word which essentially means creating happiness together.
Jabulani Yoga strives for you to experience body and life happiness. Though this may sound strange, our bodies hold on to life stressors. The movement and breath practices in yoga help the body unblock areas of tension in our bodies and in our minds. It is true: heart opening postures make you feel more gratitude and love. When we move in our bodies, thoughts come up in our minds. The more we move through the yoga postures as in classes with “flow” the better we understand that our thoughts are just thoughts moving through our brains as our bodies flow through postures. When all is flowing, such as our thoughts, and our circulatory system increases its rate, our bodies don’t feel so stuck in one place or on one thought. To surrender to this experience gives the yoga practitioner an openness to new insights. The body is strengthened and more flexible. The mind feels less stressed and experiences moments of stillness. Our awareness of our breath takes us from outward distractions to inward possibilities. It is what some call being more mindful. This awareness allows us to experience more joy in our lives and we can share that joy with those around us.
